IEC 61850 comprises various parts and defines not only the data structure
and communication of IEDs (IEC 61850 station bus level), but also the digital transfer of converter signals based on Ethernet (part 9-2).
The evaluation of the converter values is done by Merging-Units (IEC 61850 process bus level). Latest findings aim at a combination of process bus IEC 61850-9-2 with real-time Ethernet, a new development in the field of industry automation.
