Pulse location using the earth fault location process

Pulse Cabinet

By artificially feeding in a pulse signal, earth fault location relays are able to carry out fault location using the earth fault pulse location process, where a single-phase fault has occurred. To this end, pulse cabinets use a 1.0 / 1.5 s pulse pattern and can be scaled up to any network size.

Standalone pulse cabinet: Available with up to 320 A secondary pulse stroke (capacitive)

In contrast to the HPCI, the pulse cabinet does not pulse inductively (using inductors), but using capacities attached to the auxiliary power winding of the arc suppression coil. Depending on the size of the grid, voltage level and damping, pulse cabinets with up to 320 A secondary (capacitive) pulse stroke are available.

selected

The duration and pattern of the pulsing can be freely selected and set in the control cabinet.

Special (switchable) versions for up to two networks available

In case the pulse needs to be switched between two different networks, the pulse cabinets also come in a switchable double version. This is possible as the pulsing behaviour is only needed in cases of earth faults and is only explicitly activated when needed (pulse location)

Starting the pulse via binary inputs

The pulsing can be started via binary inputs, e.g. ones controlled via a background program from the REG-DP(A) or via the control room.
