A unique combination: Power Quality System with the WinPQ power quality software

The system solution for power quality monitoring, with built-in fault log and energy measurements for high, medium and low-voltage networks

The client-server software with WinPQ database is an intelligent system solution for the fully automated parallel monitoring of all faults and network quality via numerous measurement devices. Various different device variants are available for the most diverse requirements and voltage levels. The power quality software supports all built-in fault event logs from A. Eberle. Communication with the devices can take place via TCP/IP, LWL connection, RS232, 3G, 4G and analogue modem. In addition, all measurement data form the mobile power quality analyzers can be imported into the database, in order to correlate it with the data from the built-in devices.

The database is as a rule installed on a server in order to ensure permanent operation. As many WinPQ client installations as desired can work with the database in parallel.

The most important features of the system include:

  • Simultaneous, parallel reading of all devices. This guarantees a rapid reaction time from the system
  • Automatic reporting for fault events and automatic creation of power quality reports, including for the control room
  • User-friendly software providing a clear overview of many devices and large data quantities

WinPQ can be used with the following databases: PostgreeSQL, MySQL, Maria DB and MS SQL.

The principle: top-down analysis

With the WinPQ database analysis software, you are only ever a mouse click away from abstract representations of numerous time-independent measured values: from charts showing levels over time to highly accurate fault logs.

Challenges in the supply networks

Electrical supply grids are currently subject to profound change processes. Active power electronics, as found in switching power supplies and inverters, is omnipresent. To achieve CO2 reductions, small, renewable energy generators are being built everywhere. Large, conventional power plants are disappearing. Phenomena such as load flow reversals, overloads, voltage band increases at entry points and asymmetries are now part of daily business. This can be a problem, for example, for highly optimised EDP facilities, but also for industrial control systems that are sensitive to short-term supply failures, harmonics and transient events. The stability of the network may even be in question.

Document power quality continuously using large data quantities

It was only in 2014 that the German Supreme Court determined that electricity is subject to the Product Liability Act. Thus: distribution grid operators are liable for damages caused by poor power quality. With the combination of the Class A-certified measurement device family PQSys and the fully automated power quality software WinPQ, A. Eberle offers a comprehensive system for watertight records of power quality. It makes users able to document, assess and demonstrate power quality continuously at any time. Faults can be recognised early on, their causes determined and eliminated. All built-in fault logs and mobile network analyzers from A. Eberle are supported by a SQL database server, to which they can be connected across networks and even in great numbers. Communications connection via control protocols such as IEC 61850, Ethernet, 3G, 4G and analogue modems. The most important thing: the WinPQ software is on top form where large data quantities need to be handled. Automated reporting assistants will fully automatically comb the data for you and report only the most important facts. You can receive standard reports and alarms by email if you desire, or have them laid down in standard formats such as Comtrade, PQDiff or PDF in network drives. Further action is not required. With our well-tuned system solution, consisting of hardware and software, you can keep an eye on power quality at any time.
